Maybe slowing down beats pushing through

Eyooo friend!

So quick life update:

Last week I was tired. I knew it was time to take a break, but I told myself I just had a few things I needed to finish first... Classic.

The problem was that I was so drained that I worked terribly.
Constantly distracted. Slow. Not happy with anything I produced.

So this weekend I finally decided to slow down and do a proper reset weekend. No phone + a 24 h fast. It was AMAZING until.. I fainted (it wasn’t that bad, still had a great time afterwards). So 18 hours into the fast, I went for a “quick” run with a friend. Somehow, he tricked me into running 12k. When I got home, the lights went out 🤣

But the key point I’m trying to make is this:

I wasted five days in which I made 0 progress because I kept trying to push through.
I wasn’t accepting the fact that I needed rest.

After two days of real rest, I finally had the energy again.
Enough to actually focus.
And finish those final tasks before I can take some more needed rest!

Couple of thoughts

People will judge you no matter what you do, so do what makes you happy :)

We tend to put so much pressure on ourselves.

We create expectations we feel obligated to live up to.
And if we don’t meet them, we label ourselves as failures.

Let that go.

Those self imposed burdens don’t push you forward.
They do the opposite.

They create tension, fear, and hesitation.
And that’s exactly what keeps you stuck.

We’re often quick to get annoyed by other people’s actions.
Because we see them as something separate from us.
That makes it easy to blame them.
And easy to be disturbed by it.

Meditation flips that perspective.

In meditation, you learn to relate to your mind differently.
You watch thoughts and emotions arise.
Instead of fighting them, you allow them as part of your experience.

Something shifted for me when I started seeing daily life as one big meditation.

Just like thoughts in your mind, life constantly presents things into your experience.
People. Situations. Moments that irritate, trigger or upset you.

You don’t control what appears.
You only control how you relate to it.

Once you see the world as part of your experience,
you stop resisting it.
and it loses its grip on you.

Some bits of inspo

You don't need all the answers right now. New paths will reveal themselves if you have the courage to get started.” - James Clear
